Commercial New Construction — Park West Pool and Amenity Center

Park West is a master-planned community in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. The 1,700 acre community lies only minutes from the ocean and is bounded by five-and-a-half miles of riverfront, deep-water tidal creeks and other grand natural resources. The amenity center with a junior olympic swimming pool serves the entire community. Other features include a playground, a facility for meetings or social gatherings, and an outdoor dining area.
Working with McKellar & Associates, Chastain Construction built the project to blend into the existing space and architecture. The terrain posed a challenge due to the land's unsuitable soil. Rather than removing the soil, we created an aesthetically pleasing walking path and sitting area. Access to running water was another concern. Temporary water and power had to be extended for 1/2 mile to the site for construction. The facility also had to meet local inspection requirements and DHEC certifications for the pool and playground areas. Upon completion, a high level of detailed exterior finishes were added.
