Medical Construction — MUSC Neurology Laboratory

The Neurology Laboratory is located on the 3rd floor of the main hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina. The renovation included gutting the existing neurology laboratory and constructing a state-of-the-art lab. The 3,500 square foot area will consist of two doctor's offices, multiple testing areas, a research lab and a dark room.
One obstacle Chastain Construction, Inc. faced was that the site for the neurology lab is located on a fully operational floor, making it imperative for Chastain to coordinate the construction schedule with the departments working adjacent to the site. Special air scrubbers were used to clean the dust particles out of the air caused by everyday construction. In addition, special consideration had to be used to protect both the patients and medical staff from the construction process.
